This regional semi-final for the Start-up World Cup is going to be held in Luxembourg-Ville and aims to foster local innovation by bringing together a distinguished start-up ecosystem. The winner of the pitching competition will represent Luxembourg and EU Region at the Grand Finale and can compete alongside other start-ups from 50+ regional events for an opportunity to win a US $1,000,000 prize in investment.
The cream of the crop of the start-up world is going to be there. The Start-up World Cup (SWC), powered by Fen ox risk capital, comprises 40+ regional events that culminate in the Grand Finale event in Silicon Valley.
The finalists can compete for a million USD in investment and attendees can network with top industry players there. The all-star cast of judges has in previous years included names like Apple’s Steve Wozniak and Netflix’s Marc Randolph.

- Cost: Free to apply to one of the regional events (there are currently 18 planned for 2020), for a chance to participate in the Start-up World Cup Grand Finale 2020 in May. Tickets to attend range from $80-$399.

The winner of the Grand Finale will receive US $1,000,000 as either the exchange for a portion of equity related to the most recent round of funding or a convertible note, depending on the size of the company and how much funding they have raised.
They will also receive global exposure through media recognition from all of the journalists covering the event. Select sponsors will also be providing additional prizes to be announced. Last year included $30k in free legal services from Orrick and a Salesforce software package for the finalists.

Start-up World Cup will have 40+ regional events across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Each regional winner will compete in Silicon Valley for the final competition in San Francisco on May 22, 2020, at Hilton Union Square, San Francisco.
