Everyone gets thought about quitting their job life because it is not enough for them; they want to do much more in life. But only some of them can take risks in life and go-ahead for their businesses. Prahlad Thakur is one of them.
We all know that we all are depended on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are non-renewable. Our shift from fossil fuels to solar power is the need of the hour. SunEmison is doing the same all over India. Prahlad Thakur is the founder of this great solar company. Prahlad Thakur faced many challenges since he started his business in this industry.
Let’s check out his amazing interview where he tells us about his challenges, achievements and much more.
How will you Introduce Yourself to the world?
I would like to introduce myself as a Nuclear Engineer with masters in marketing. I have a global working experience in the solar industry.I have headed EPC business vertical as EPC Director in two Chinese solar panel manufactures ET Solar Group & China Sunergy. I have Implemented 300 MW grid-connected solar projects globally.
Tell your readers about your achievements till today (Be Honest) !!
I have worked in engineering for eight years. When I realized that the job could not fulfil my desire anymore, I decided to quit the job and took leap entrepreneurship to try my luck. It was in 2015 when I started this venture by the name of SunEmison with just 30,000 Rupees & two co-members.
It was hard to manage the funds initially, and when I discussed the same to my near ones, they advised me to quit. It was a rock bottom period of my life when everything seemed shady. Initially, I took care of the entire venture on my own and had very little unskilled manpower. In case I had to install a solar power plant, I used to visit the site and work as labour. I used to work as labour in hot weather conditions at the site to teach my people in remote areas.
Tell us about your start-up!
SunEmison is committed to enabling solar everywhere and bringing the power of the sun to people most efficiently and cost-effectively possible. We are the leading solar player of the country with over 100MWp Solar Projects Portfolio in the pipeline.
SunEmison aims to provide much-needed energy security to India. SunEmison has made strides in Solar Photovoltaic Technology in a very short period.
“What’s the most important thing you’re working on right now, and how are you making it happen?
SunEmison aims to provide much-needed energy security to the world, ensuring self-sustained buildings, rapid deployment, and reducing transmission & distribution losses. We offer AI-enabled glass with embedded photovoltaic technology. Glass aims to convert traditional building construction materials into solar energy generators optimizing three different things at the same time, namely electricity production, thermal insulation and intelligent human behaviour by UI / UX.
The world today relies heavily on fossil fuels (e.g., oil, coal and natural gas) as energy sources. Fossil fuels are non-renewable; that is, they are sourced from finite resources that will eventually be consumed until limited supplies remain, ultimately becoming too expensive or environmentally damaging to extract. In contrast, multiple forms of renewable energy resources regularly replenished and will never be exhausted.
Since the world will ultimately deplete its finite current sources of energy or deplete them to the point where economic viability to recover the finite energy sources no longer exists. It remains important to seek renewable energy options and develop and perfect the respective technologies before issues arise yet again in the future.

What’s your take on your segmented/targeted Market?
Large Corporate Houses, Multi-Specialty Hospitals, Universities, Mid & Large Industries, Ministries & Government Departments, skyscraper developers, Architects, Real estate developers.
What are the challenges you have faced and what are the current challenges? Mention the top three challenges for both.
Protectionist Policies & frequently floating on solar energy. • Poor infrastructure of electricity distribution companies (Discoms) • Grid integration as a major demand-side barrier for scaling up solar.
Why have you started up? Be specific with your reasons!!
Adaptability by Self Sustainable house/building. Solar energy collection integrated into the building envelope as part of the design replaces conventional building through electricity generation and energy savings.
Converting existing or new construction buildings/homes into energy generators for self-consumption at the same cost of glass installed. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, will eventually be consumed until limited supplies remain, ultimately becoming environmentally damaging to extract. •Reduces Air Pollution Greenhouse gases reduce air quality and increase weather extremes.
Where do you want to see yourself in the next five years? *
Yes, we could do it. See the shingle product is the question of aesthetics all right. So you are promoting aesthetics. For hardcore power production where you are putting panel, hectares & hectares of panels one does not waste money in making small pieces of glass into a shingle because you need certain cutting equipment and tempering equipment.
So everything can be done, there is no problem in doing it, but it would be at a certain cost. And we do not use those shingles in our roofs; it is a European and American concept. We have a concrete roof or multi-storied buildings, not roofs like that.
